Monastery of Yuste. The Monastery of Yuste is located in spurs of the mountain range of Gredos, in the region of La Vera (Cáceres), next to the locality of Cuacos, and very near of Garganta la Olla. The present convent was reconstructed on the ruins of the old Monastery that served both from residence to Carlos V in last years of its life. At the moment the Monastery of Yuste is an important datum point by its historical meaning as as much artistic, in addition to the remarkable natural beauty of the place around which it is located. In 1556 Carlos I one retired to the Monastery of Yuste. In the building the dependencies were extended with which it counted to welcome in the emperor and his personal crew members.


The House-Palace consisted of two plants with four stays each one, around an inner patio; the rooms of the emperor, located next to the choir of the Church, allowed him to attend the offices from the dormitory, seated in their bunk, where he remained seated, due to the serious affection of drop that suffered. Finally, the 21 of September of 1588, died the emperor Carlos V in whom she was his last mulberry one. It was buried in the Church for, later, being transferred his rest to the real pantheon of the Monastery of San Lorenzo of the Dump (Madrid). In the middle of the present century (1949), the Main directorate of Beautiful Arts initiated the reconstruction of the monastery, trying to respect to the maximum the original design and projects, thus recreating one of the most important enclaves by its historical and artistic meaning. At the moment it is the seat of the Foundation European Academy of Yuste.
